"Commercial Up To $2M"
This project was a very high end three storey fitout in a new Building at Macquarie Tower Charlestown covering 3000m2 of GLA.
The Autex Frontier Tundra with Vitradual service channels was one feature, the curved bulkhead pelmet around the main lounge area curved in plan and in section making for an extremely interesting feature. The use of 500m2 of Matrix Rigitone seamless plasterboard throughout the majority of the project including within the curved bulkhead pelmet feature really stands out and provides excellent acoustics for the functionality of the rooms it was used in. The 1700m2 of NCS high acoustic Pinnacle tegular ceiling tiles for the main workstation areas was a cost effective way of providing a great work space to the majority of the work area.
Nearly every corner you turned there were tight curves in lieu of an external corner. These worked very well architecturally keeping the flow of the office space from one area to the next. Curves are always a challenge. The curved bulkhead pelmet which curved on plan and in section was something that really came up well, but not without excellent planning ahead of time. The curved profile was made up from 100 individual MDF panels and installed all around providing a consistent substructure to sheet directly too. This produced an excellent smooth and straight pelmet which was going to be highlighted by back lighting so it had to be perfect.
Above the feature internal stairs was a Barrisol ceiling which we had to frame out for. The tightest of the curves were 200mm radius which a bulkhead trim cannot be curved too. So the trim was installed in sections and a template made up to allow the trim to be car bogged and air sprayed. The result is a bulkhead trim which looks like it is one piece with no join at all to go around the 200mm radius trim.
The builder / architect had not designed the service channels between the Autex blades and they looked to JA Crockett for the solution. We designed and co-ordinated a Vitradual services channel which had every service hole pre-cut so there was no risk of service trades damaging the pre-finished service channel. It housed Mech, Elec, Dry Fire, Wet Fire, AV services without fail.
Products Used: Rondo, Knauf, Fletcher Insulation, Rigitone Matrix, NCS Pinnacle Ceiling Tiles & Grid, Autex Frontier Tundra, Wavebar, Sapphire Skirting, Vitradual Service Channels.
